Its finally May, and for me, this means two things. 1 – It’s my birthday (4th to be exact), and 2 – The weather is finally feeling more like summer.
I have been a little busy with exams and my birthday the past few days, so haven’t been able to post as frequently as I’d like, but one thing I’ve wanted to start featuring on the website was a monthly favourites post. It may seem like a staple in many fashion/lifestyle/beauty blogs, but for whatever reason, I’ve never stuck to the routine… Until now.
So, this is going to start being a regular feature, at the beginning of every month, depicting my favourites from the month just gone. so, here goes!
Notepad – IKEA
I love cute little notepads, and have lately been obsessed with anything copper coloured, so this little gem from IKEA had double the appeal. It’s fairly small and thin so would be good for carrying around, plus the pages are blank, which is perfect for doodling (something I do ALL the time) as well as writing!
Candle – Jo Malone
I’m not going to lie, I’ve never been a massive fan of Jo Malone products, I’ve always fancied myself as more of a Yankee Candle girl when it comes to waxy delights. But I think I’ve figured out why that is. It’s because I’d never tried the products thoroughly enough before, only the odd smell of a diffuser that left me sneezing for the rest of the day! This beautiful candle was a gift from the company who took me to Dubai last month as a parting gift, as if they hadn’t done enough! Anyway, the English Pear and Freesia scent is so beautiful and delicate, I don’t know why I haven’t tried it before. Oh, and the packaging is to die for. Sorry Yankee Candle, but I think Jo Malone is my new mistress.
Honey & Oat Face Mask – The Body Shop
If you’re looking for a really strong, super effective, unrelenting face mask that will draw out any oils, dirt and blemishes from any skin type… this is not the one for you. I have very sensitive skin, and most face masks contain some chemicals/acids that break me out big time, and since I had a voucher for The Body Shop, I decided to go in sore, and get a little help. The lady advised me their Honey & Oat face mask would be best suited to my skin, so I went with that she said, and she was right! Finally, a mask that gently cleanses, exfoliates and moisturizes after a 15 minute treatment. If anyone has skin similar to mine, I would 100% recommend this stuff. Just go in and ask for a tester. Go on. Do it.
Rose Gold Watch – Michael Kors
I got this watch for my 16th birthday… wow, that was 4 year ago. I loved it for the first year, then for some reason, just stopped wearing it and then purchased my second Kors watch which was smaller and silver and suited my look better. I found this one lurking in my jewellery draw a few weeks ago, and decided to revert back to my 16 year old self and rock the ‘my watch is so big my wrist may snap any second’ look. Well, I love it! I think its more the tone of the watch than the style, but I forgot how flattering rose gold can be against skin with yellow undertones… a big thumbs up from me.
Eyebrow Pomade – ELF
This product was featured in my Make-Up & Skincare Haul I posted at the very beginning of April, and its something I’ve used everyday since. Its so easy and quick to apply, and stays put for as long as I need it too. The price is so reasonable compared to other brands such as Anastasia and MAC, I thought it may have been a but rubbish, but I am pleasantly surprised how good the formula is, I’ve just ordered 3 more! The only down side is that the colour options aren’t grate, but found watching YouTube video’s really helpful and decided on Light Brown, which is perfect for me. All you brow lovers, check it out.
Pure, Fresh Watermelon Juice – Homemade
Right, I have looked EVERYWHERE for watermelon juice since drinking it on holiday and falling in love with it. And I don’t mean the kind in the cartons with all sorts of added sugars and preservatives. All I wanted was some fresh watermelon juice. Is that so much to ask?! Apparently, yes. So having tried every major supermarket in the UK, I decided to just make my own. It look a lot of time, elbow grease, and the demise of one of my blenders, but my god, it was worth it. I drink this either on its own with some ice, mint and lemon for a refreshing morning drink, or with soda water to replace unhealthy fizzy drinks. (HINT: It’s also really good with lemonade, crushed ice and a shot or two of gin).
Strawberry Cupcake Green Tea – PG Tips
I swear, nearly every girl in my office lives off of this stuff. Its sweet, fruity, light and has all the benefits of normal green tea! Since buying these, I’ve noticed I’ve been drinking a lot more green tea than I normally would which, as we know, can speed metabolism, clear skin and load us with tons of anti-oxidants and nutrients. Score.
So, that’s my monthly favourites from April. Do you have any others? Also, if you know where sells pure watermelon juice, LET ME KNOW!
